In 2026, National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University will celebrate its 130th anniversary and 35 years since the transformation of Tomsk Polytechnic Institute into Tomsk Polytechnic University.
This year also marks the 70th anniversary of the glorious history of thermal power engineering education at TPU (the first students were enrolled in the Faculty of Thermal Power Engineering). Over its long history, TPU has trained several thousand professionals in fields related to thermal and nuclear power plants, boilers, heating systems and networks, and automated control systems. As a result of the rapid development of the Russian energy sector, training programs have been transformed. New programs have been added, and departments, faculties, institutes, and schools have been opened and transformed. For a long time, training programs in thermal and electrical energy have worked hand in hand. Unique scientific, educational, and industrial projects have been implemented with partners and TPU graduates working around the world.
2026 will mark the 15th anniversary of the founding of Heat and Mass Transfer Laboratory at TPU, which is an industry-specific laboratory in key areas of energy, environmental, fire, informational, and raw material safety. In the anniversary year, a new stage of cooperation development will begin at TPU.
Starting in 2026, the Tomsk International Energy Forum will be held every two years. The Forum provides a unique platform for bringing together experts working on a wide range of energy issues, including energy production, conversion, distribution, and consumption.
